I hear all the time that addiction is a diseas, but couldn’t just as easily be a choice? whats your opiniom?

Of course there are those who are predisposed to alcoholism because of the disease, however, they could decide to never drink alcohol and therefore the addiction would not be able to take place. Therefore, it is a disease as well as a decision.

If you use the excuse that you can control it, and then keep abusing them because you think you can just stop one day anyways, then its a sickness…
Ultimately, alcohol/drug usage is a choice you make.
Only reason why advertisers claim that its a disease is because so many people have a hard time making the decisions to stop that usage of alcohol and drugs.
Drug/Alcohol addiction is not a disease. It is a choice that later becomes a problem. With the exception of diseases such as Aids, we do not choose whether or not we want a disease or not. Others like cancer are genetically predisposed.
In the beginning it’s a choice but then it becomes a disease.
