Okay. Can someone tell me the answer to this, please. The _____ of a drug often varies in different people. I have choices; side effects, overdose, dosage, depressant, action, an antagonistic. I know a few of them are definitely not it, but could someone tell me the answer. Also, is methadone maintenance a treatment for reducing dependence on heroin?? My Health teacher decides to give us worksheets from an old book, so I can’t always find the answer. And don’t give me any sites to go to either. Way too much hassle. Thank you.

I have recently switched from Elavil/Lortab to Lyrica/Methadone for the treatment of chronic pain. I have had quite a bit of anxiety worrying if I will ever get better or be able to manage living with pain.

On two occasions before before the switch (this was awaiting my first pain management visit because my meds were no longer working with bothersome side effects) also two occasions since the switch, I have woken in the night with heart palpitations and sometimes tingling sensations in my legs. It’s as if my hear is either faster and harder than usual, or not as strong as it should be. There is also a feeling of being faint or falling. I seem to be developing a fear of sleeping because of these uncomfortable symptoms. (I am afraid I will die in my sleep.) Do you think these symptoms are my anxiety manifesting into physical symptoms? Or do you think these could be possible side effects of the meds and I am actually experiencing the health concerns I fear when going to sleep?
I plan to tell my doc right away, but there is no one to reach over the holiday week-end without going to the ER. Monday morning I will for sure call though.

I was started on Methadone for treatment of cervical pain and started taking it Friday. Tonight, I noticed that my feet and ankles are a little swollen, like they were sprained or something. Does anyone know if this is a normal side effect. I am taking 5mg every 8 hrs, which is a small dose, and my doc said the worst thing that would likely happen was a little nausea and constipation, which has happened, Prior to this, I was on ocycodone, 10 mg x’s 4. This never caused any swelling…
I have researched this and some sights, like drugs.com do not have it listed as a side effect, but some do. I will call my doc in the morning because this is actually helping my pain significantly, but there seems to be no consensus on the foot swelling…

I take the painkiller Methadone for severe back pain as prescribed by a physician. One of the side effects of such medications is profuse sweating. My physician has no answer as to why, but I need to find out and know if there is a remedy. The sweating is bad, but the pain is worse so I need to find a way to help this.

Im currently taking effexor75mg.,xanax 1mg 3 times a day and 145mg of methadone a day I want to know side effects or dangers of combining the 3. and some feedback ,I’ve been on xanax (4) -3 yrs and methadone for 4 yrs but I just started the effexor 3 days ago.
